Psalms 85:6-7 (KJV)
6 Wilt thou not revive us again:
that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD,
and grant us thy salvation.
Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)
β1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
In many of our Christian gatherings, the chorus, βSend down revival, we pray Thee, o Lordβ is sung with so much relish and fervor β which is great; but most times, we sing that song without giving much thought to the lyrics of that chorus. We sing that song, but do | nothing to make the expressed desire a reality.
Revival doesn't just break out; someone, a group, or a denomination has to pay the price for the Spirit of God to move unprecedentedly.
When this is done, hearts are set ablaze; signs and wonders begin to manifest, and revival is birthed, How and where do we start from?
Go back to Bethel: Bethel is a place of self examination β taking a spiritual inventory of your life, and evaluating yourself before the mirror of God's Word. It's a place where you extricate yourself from all encumbrances that kept you bound in spiritual apathy; disconnect yourself from self-management to get plugged into the true source of power β God. Like Jacob, this retreat affords you the opportunity to see yourself as God sees you; sincerely repenting of every sin (if need be), and renewing your covenant with God. G
Go back to the Word: The Word of God is one of the greatest agents of revival. It is powerful and infallible; it is God-personified. Our faith comes from hearing it; our strength and victory come from depending on it, and our peculiarity and influence on others come from living it out. If you read, study, meditate, and obey the Word, you will be very close to a mighty outbreak of revival. C
Consecrate: Revival may never happen if nobody consecrates anything. You should consecrate your time by being alone with God; your talent, by lending it to the Lord; and your resources, by funding evangelical outreaches.
Pray fervently: In all cases, fervent and importunate prayer is the forerunner of revival. Expecting revival without prayer is like hoping for a bumper harvest without planting any seed. We can never have revival without the agency of prayer; the fire of revival is ignited by prayer. Prayer births revival. lf we can wait on God in the place of prayer, like the early church, the Lord will send the Holy Ghost; and there will be a great outburst of revival.
